Replacement Fan Motor for a MaxxFan 4951KS On a 2021 Grand Design Reflection

Question:

Hello - I have a 2021 Grand Design Reflection with the Maxxfan model 4951KS with the 4 key wall control. When I press fan on the vent opens and the fan works on low speed. When I press fan on a second or third time to advance the fan speed to medium or high, the fan turns off and the vent closes. The vent open, vent close, and fan off buttons all work. I suspect either the rain sensor and/or PCB is the problem but cant find any examples of other people trying to diagnose this problem either on your website, or on YouTube. My local service dealer advised me to turn the rain sensor off to isolate whether that is the problem or not. My model doesnt appear to have a rain sensor switch, so Im stuck at the moment.

I spoke with MaxxFan and they said that is a fan motor causing the problem. The fan motor has an internal amperage short so when you increase speeds, the motor amperage is higher and the circuit board will close the lid and stop the fan.

So all you're going to need to do is to replace your lift motor with the Replacement Lift Motor for Maxx Fan Plus Roof Vent # MA10-20270.

Hi Bryce I have a similar problem as Craig J with the fan stopping and the lid closing on it's own. But I don't understand your answer. You say the fan motor has an internal short and draws more amperage than it should. So the cct board stops it and closes the lid. So why do you suggest replacing the lift motor? Did you mean replace the fan motor? Or am I misunderstanding you? Scott B

@Scottb Hey Scott, this was a while ago and I don't remember exactly what MaxxFan said, but they suggested swapping the lift motor, so I must've mixed up the terminology in the beginning.
