Question:
For a 30foot boat 9,000lb on a 2,500lb trailer, what size transom tie downs would you recommend? Also the trim tabs are in line between the transom and the trailer tie down, they seem to rub? Any suggestions?

When choosing transom tie-downs you will want to choose a tie-down with a break strength that exceeds the weight of the lightest object. So in your instance, you will want a strap that exceeds the 2,500 lbs. that your trailer weighs. This is to ensure that the boat does not jump off of the trailer if you run over bumps or potholes.
The highest rated transom straps that we have are the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Transom Tie-Down Straps # IMF08893, but the break strength is 2,500 lbs. which is the complete max that you'd want to be at for the strap.
I would recommend going with the CargoBuckle G3 Retractable Ratchet Tie-Down Straps # IMF18800. While they are not specifically designed to be transom tie-downs they will work and they are a bolt-on style like the BoatBuckle. But, more importantly they have a break strength of 3,500 lbs., which is what you want for your tie-downs.
As far as the rubbing is concerned, I would try to move the strap out from behind the hinge that it rubs on. If there is still a wear point, you can get a pool noodle and cut it to the size you are needing to blunt the edge and help preserve the strap.
