Replacement for Dexter 8-147 Hub and Drum for 5 Lug Bolt Pattern Upgrade

Question:

I have a tandem axel trailer with Dexter 8-147 hubs and electric brakes on both axels. I would like to switch from the 4 bolt 9.44 pattern hub to a common 5 lug pattern 5 x 5 1/2 . I know that I will need new hubs/drums and electric brake package.

Your Dexter 8-147 hubs fit an older agricultural setup that isn't available anymore so for your application we need to go with an entirely new axle, and for that I recommend a Timbren setup:

This installs to the frame of your trailer and comes with a suspension kit already in place so you don't have to deal with replacing all of that. The hub/drums come with electric brakes and a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern which is much more common than the 5 on 5-1/2" pattern so you'll have an easier time finding wheel bolt patterns to match it.
