Question:

I have the eTrailer tow bar e74ZR on my motorhome, but getting a new toad 2023 For Maverick Hybrid that I will be putting a Roadmaster RM97RR baseplate on. Is your e74ZR compatible with your Roadmaster RM97RR? Also, what do you recommend for both a permanent and portable braking system for the Maverick? Thanks

Yes, it is. The etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar item # e74ZR is compatible with the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit item # RM97RR. This base plate kit is custom fit and will work great with your 2023 Maverick.

The best permanently installed braking system and what I highly recommend is the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor item # DM86VR for hydraulic brakes. If your motorhome has air brakes you will need the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System item # DM26VR. The Demco units are the easiest to use as they are permanently mounted to the towed vehicle. Both these systems also included a braking monitor you will be able to see in your motorhome to tell when the brakes are being activated and ensure the system is operating correctly.

The best portable braking system we offer is the Blue Ox Patriot Radio Frequency, Portable Braking System item # BLU37TR. It is the easiest system to set up and use. It is a proportional braking system that applies your Mavericks brakes in response to how much your motorhome is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

If you go with a portable system you will need the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps item # RM-9332. It looks like your battery doesn't have to be disconnected but the 12 volt outlet loses power when your ignition is not on. This outlet kit will run directly to your battery to provide constant power.

Either way you will need to add the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25. This charge line kit will keep your braking system and lights from draining your Maverick's battery while you are headed to your destination.

It sounds like you're not new to flat towing a vehicle so if you already have the 7-wire to 6-wire cable that comes with the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit item # RM-15267 all you will need is item # RM-152 and item # RM-910030-7.
