Question:
Good evening. I bought a bunch of stuff from you to flat tow my wrangler jl unlimited. Everything went great except for two things. I know it’s wrong. No idea what I did. First the cables that attach to the baseplate and the trailer hitch. Crossed them as instructions state. In 600 miles the protected plastic coating was chewed up and exposed the metal underneath. I have the roadmaster all terrain tow bar. Has areas down sides where I think the cable is suppose to feed into. But a hooks on each end prevents me from feeding it in opening and along arm. Second is I installed the curt harness to control lights. Curt 58964. When I plug wrangler to motorhome. All lights work perfect. However. When I hit unlock on wrangler. Lights come on like normal on wrangler. And it also turns on the motorhome lights. I don’t think it’s suppose to do that. I have no idea what would cause it. Motorhome harness I believe needs some rewiring. Would love to know what I need to do to stop the back feed wrangler to motorhome.

When you hit unlock on your Jeep it probably turns on the running light circuit of your taillights temporarily and that is backfeeding through the Curt Tow Bar Wiring Kit part # C96JR to your motorhome trailer wiring circuit which is connected to the taillight circuit of the motorhome and then turning them on at same time.
It sounds like your cables are dragging if the coating on the under side is coming off. If you can't get the cables through the safety chain loops it might be better to go with a coiled safety chain like the # RM-643 which would keep themselves off the ground.
