I am looking to flat tow a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. I need thoughts on options for a complete setup including braking unit. Im around 5000 Maybe a couple different brands Randy

Hi Randy,

For your 2022 Jeep Gladiator I have the following flat towing component recommendations:

Baseplate: If you have a standard model with a factory bumper or a Rubicon with a factory bumper then you can use the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5. If you have a non-base model (Mojave) or non-factory bumper then let me know and we can figure out what will fit.

Tow Bar: etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e84ZR. This tow bar comes with safety cables already included so you won't have to purchase them separately. The shank also has a built in drop/rise so that you can help keep the tow bar level between the motorhome and Gladiator.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode wiring kit will splice into your factory tail light wiring to display your motorhome's traffic signals. If you have ParkSense proximity sensors then you'll need to go with the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM63MR instead.

Braking System: If your motorhome has hydraulic brakes then you'll need the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo # SM99251. This system has an indicator light that needs to tap into the brake light switch which isn't useable on your Gladiator so you'll need to install a stop light switch kit # RM-751497 to simulate the brake switch signal for the indicator light.

If your motorhome has air brakes then you'll need the Demco Air Force One # SM99243 the instead. This system doesn't need to tap into the brake light switch so you won't need a stop light switch kit with this.

To keep your Gladiator's battery charged while you tow I recommend also installing a charge line kit # RM-156-25.

Kevin I have a question about how to wire the led brake indicator and the brake switch mounted on the brake pedal. Im not sure from the instructions and videos where I hook the red and green wires on brake pedal switch and the red and black wires on the led indicator. I believe I have everything else ready. Any help would be appreciated Randy

@RandyW It doesn't matter which wire you choose for the stop light switch # RM-751497 but one will need to go to the indicator light and the other will need to go to power. In Ryan's video he uses the green wire from the stop light switch to connect to the red wire on the indicator light of the Stay-IN-Play Duo # SM99251.
