Will Yakima SkyBox 16 Roof Cargo Box Fit Yakima HD Crossbars

Question:
I bought a Yakima Carbonite 16 SkyBox and set of Yakima HD Bars and I cannot get the mounting clamps to close. I have been fiddling with for half hour and no matter what I try the clamp will not break the 90 degree point. Knob is on one thread and still not enough it’s like the bolt is just too short or the clamps are not closing around the bar fully. Yakima assured this combination would fit with no issues.

The Yakima SkyBox 16 Roof Cargo Box is compatible with bars measuring up to 1-11/16" tall x 3-1/2" wide. The Yakima HD Crossbars like part # Y01159 measure 1-1/2" tall x 3" wide so they will be a fit for this cargo box. I didn't see any instructions with the cargo box that are specific to these bars so you'll just want to use the general guidelines which I have attached below.
Please note, the clamps don't need to fully close in order for the box to be sure.

The original poster's issue is valid. The clamp's thumb wheel will not back out far enough for the clamp's lever to engage.
