For Curt Euro style ball mount # C45562, it measure 3-1/8 inches from the top of the shank to the beginning of the vertical curve that leads up to the ball. To the bottom of the ball is just over another 2 inches so it is about 5-3/8 inches to the bottom of the ball measuring from the top of the shank. I have included a picture showing the measurements.
