Question:

I am trying to find the correct brake controller for my 2022 ford Ranger.It does have the towing package.I’m concerned because I have heard my speed control will not work.I do use the adaptive speed control as much as possible.I like to keep things simple.

We have great options for your 2022 Ford Ranger like the Prodigy P2 part # 90885 but what triggers the brake controller to start slowing down the trailer is the brake light circuit of the vehicle. So if the adaptive speed control does not activate the brake lights the controller won't activate and work to slow the trailer down as well. This most likely wouldn't be a huge deal though as the reduction of throttle is still going to slow the truck and trailer down about the same. Your owners manual actually states to not have the adaptive cruise control on when towing. See page 193.

I really like the P2 brake controller because it's proven over the years to be incredibly reliable and is still considered by many to be the best controller out there. This is due to the advanced inertia sensor in the controller that senses how hard you apply the truck brakes and applies a similar amount to the trailer brakes.

To install it you'd also need the 7-way kit part # 22124 which comes with the correct brake controller install wiring as well.
