Where is Brake Controller Wiring on 2023 Ford Ranger

Question:

I have a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller that I had installed in a Jeep Cherokee. I just got a 2023 Ford Ranger and would like to install the brake controller in it. I kept the Cherokee wiring and can cut of the vehicle end for connecting wires. I do need wiring instructions however. Can you help?

Using the cut off wiring harness you have for the P3 part # 90195 you will wire it to the brake controller wiring of your 2023 Ford Ranger which is sticking out of the large wire harness that goes through the driver's side firewall, left of the brake pedal, with shrink tubing on the ends. The wiring on your truck will have it's functions labeled but for the brake controller wiring the red is for the stoplight circuit, black is for 12 volt power, white is for ground, and blue is the output circuit carries the braking power to the 7-way.

I too have a recently purchased 2023 ford ranger with the factory trailer tow. I have the p2 controller which is not the issue i’m having. My question is after looking, where you advised Anthony, I am unable to locate any thing that resembles a pigtail plug coming from the main harness. I called two different Ford service departments and they both asked their techs and they don’t know. Each dealer wanted me to take it to their shop to look for it. With the trailer tow it should certainly have something. The owners manual say’s if towing over 1500 # to buy a after market controller. Very vague. My 2017 ram, 2019 ram and 2021 gladiator all had plugs under the dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if your company sells that pig tail to plug into it Would you please give me a part number.? Thanks, Dan

@DanielH We don't have a custom fit harness unfortunately. Ford in recent years has made the brake controller install connectors difficult on vehicles that previously had them. Your situation is pretty frustrating and only solution I can think of would be to take it to a dealer like you mentioned and see if they can find it.
