Question:
I have a utility trailer with Carlisle sport trail tires 5.30-12 purchased in May 2006. Should I consider getting new tires? The trailer has been outside for 16 years.

Expert Reply:
Yes, you need to change your tires on your utility trailer. I recommend using the # TT53012C to replace your Carlisle tires. Typically I do not recommend using tires older than 5 years old especially if they have sat outside for that amount of time. The sun and elements will rot the tread on the tire and while your tires might still hold air the tread will likely separate from the tire carcass if you were to drive on them being 16 years old. Do be sure to also change the spare tire if you have one or consider getting a Spare # AM30820.
