Can you tell me if this will fit a 2023 Grand Cherokee L? Also, does this sit behind the factory bumper cover where a factory hitch would go?

Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C97JR will fit your 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The hitch installs behind the rear bumper and the receiver will sit in the factory cutout. When the hitch bumper cover is in place the hitch will be completely hidden. You will have to remove the panel to use the hitch.
