Recommended Large Aluminum Cargo Carrier With A Rise In The Shank

Question:

Are there any 60x24 or larger cargo carriers that made of aluminum and have an angle/rise in the shank? All the large aluminum carriers I see have straight shanks.

Expert Reply:

The only Aluminum cargo carrier we currently carry close to 24" x 60" would be the 30x50 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18112. This cargo carrier only has a slight rise in the shank and comes with a 48-1/8" long folding ramp. The shank also folds so you fold the carrier up to reduce your overall length without having to remove the cargo carrier.

If clearance is a real issue you could also use a stacked receiver like the Gen-Y Phantom X Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers for 2" Hitch # GY87VR in the rise position to gain additional clearance.

There are other options with larger sizes available, but they are steel construction. If you decide you want to go with a steel cargo carrier let me know and give me some details on what you'd like to haul and I can find the best option for your needs.
