Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for a 10,000 lbs Trailer w/ No Room on the Coupler

Published 09/21/2022

Question:

Good Morning, I have a 2023 Jayco Eagle HT 284BHOK. I’ve heard the Weigh-Safe True-Tow isn’t compatible with my trailer however, I’ve also heard from Jayco owners, the system is compatible, so I’m somewhat confused. Being you guys are the experts, what is your experience with this weight distribution hitch and the compatibility with a Jayco trailer like mine. Thanks

I have a solution for you but it comes down to space on your 2023 Jayco Eagle HT 284BHOK's tongue. There's not enough room to get the spring bar bracket over the top of the tongue because of the propane tank holder and the storage rack. To add a weight distribution system to your trailer you will need to use the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BXW1500.

The SwayPro has a 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs tongue weight capacity which will be perfect for your trailer's 9,995 lbs gross trailer weight. The reason I recommended this system is because it uses chain hangers instead of the standard brackets used with the Weigh-Safe system. With the chain hanger option you can use the Blue Ox Signature Series Underclamp Lift Brackets item # BXW4020 that attach beneath your tongue. These clamp to your trailer so they do not require any drilling.

I have linked a review video below for you to check out.
