Turn Your Bucket Into a Hitch

Human putting the receiver on a tractor bucket.

A tractor bucket isn't made for towing, but sometimes you need to move a trailer across the yard or shift equipment around the farm. That's when this clamp-on receiver comes in. It mounts right to the edge of your bucket with a screw clamp, no drilling or welding required. Tighten it down, slide in a ball mount or other 2" hitch accessory, and your bucket is ready to tow. When the job's done, loosen the clamp and the bucket is clear again. No permanent changes or wasted time.

@KateF If you slide the device over the edge of the bucket and crank down the screw. The device started shifting sideways while I was trying to move the trailer. It’s almost like the device needs to be wider with more screws holding the device on the bucket

  • How To Use Tractor Or Skid Steer To Maneuver Trailers In Gravel Lot
Hey Aaron, that’s actually one of the big benefits of the etrailer clamp-on bucket hitch receiver # e75ZV. Since you’re sitting higher and closer with a clear view of the coupler and trailer tongue, it’s much easier to make small adjustments compared to backing a truck up on uneven ground. You can creep forward, lift slightly, and reposition without hopping in and out of the cab. Just keep in mind the bucket edge still needs to be 1-1/2 inch thick or less, and this is meant for controlled...

  • Does The etrailer Clamp On Hitch Receiver Stay On Only One Tractor Or Skid Steer Bucket?
Hey Nolan, since the receiver attachment for buckets # e75ZV clamps-on instead of bolting or welding, you can move it between different tractor or skid steer buckets as needed, as long as each bucket edge is 1-1/2 inch thick or less. That makes it easy to share one receiver across multiple machines instead of buying or fabricating a hitch for each one. It takes less than a minute to install or remove. Once it’s clamped on, it works with any standard 2 inch shank ball mount, so you’re not...

  • Can Clamp On Bucket Hitch Receiver Be Used With Different Size Ball Couplers?
Yes you can, Denise. The etrailer clamp-on bucket hitch receiver # e75ZV accepts any 2 inch shank ball mount, so you can swap ball mounts as needed based on your trailer’s coupler size. If you want to avoid changing balls and ball mounts, the adjustable ball mount # e66PR is a great match for this receiver since it includes both 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch balls in one unit. That makes switching between trailers quick and painless. What kinds of trailers are you moving most often?

  • Does The etrailer Clamp On Bucket Hitch Receiver Come With Ball To Move Trailers Around?
Good question, Mark - this trips a lot of folks up. The 2 inch measurement refers to the square receiver's opening on the bucket receiver # e75ZV, meaning it accepts any standard 2 inch shank ball mount, just like a truck hitch. The actual hitch ball and ball mount isn’t included, since ball size depends on your trailer’s coupler 2, 2-5/16, etc. and most people already have one that they use to tow with. If you’re moving different trailers around the farm or jobsite, a really handy pairing...

  • Is There A Clamp-On Hitch And Ball Mount To Move Trailers Around With Skid Steer Or Tractor Bucket?
Susan, this is exactly the kind of situation this receiver # e75ZV was made for. Since it accepts any 2 inch shank ball mount, you’ve got options, but for flexibility I usually recommend the etrailer adjustable ball mount # e66PR. It fits this receiver and gives you both 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch hitch balls, which is perfect if you’re moving more than one trailer size without constantly needing to swap balls. If you want to walk me through the trailers you’re moving - sizes, couplers,...

  • Will etrailer Clamp-On Bucket Hitch Adapter Work On Bucket That Has Teeth?
Hey Brian, buckets with teeth will usually still work well with this receiver # e75ZV, as long as there’s enough space between the teeth. The clamp itself is just over 3 inches wide, so if you’ve got a gap that size between teeth, you should be able to slide it right in. I have never really seen buckets with teeth closer than that, and as you can see in the attached photo, our team has already successfully installed it on a bucket with teeth. One other thing is to make sure the bucket...

  • Is The etrailer Clamp On Hitch For Tractor Buckets Difficult To Install Or Remove?
Hey Lucas, the etrailer clamp-on bucket hitch receiver # e75ZV is meant to be quick on, quick off. You slide it over the bucket edge, tighten the screw clamp by hand, and you’re ready to go. When you’re done moving trailers, loosen it and pull it off - no tools or permanent changes needed! It takes maybe 30 seconds total to install or remove. As long as your bucket edge is 1-1/2inch thick or less, you'll be all set. Do you see yourself using it occasionally, or are trailers something...

  • Is There A Way To Move Trailers Around Lot Using Skid Steer Bucket ?
Alex, you’re on the right track - this works on both tractor and skid steer buckets as long as the bucket edge thickness is 1-1/2" or less. There’s no welding or drilling involved, so it’s a solid option if you don’t want to modify your bucket permanently. Once it’s clamped on, the etrailer clamp-on bucket hitch receiver # e75ZV accepts any standard 2" shank ball mount, so you can match the hitch ball to the trailer you’re moving. If you’re juggling multiple trailers, an adjustable ball...

  • Can I Leave The etrailer Clamp-On Trailer Hitch Receiver On My Tractor's Bucket At All Times?
Hello Sam, you can leave the etrailer clamp-on bucket hitch receiver # e75ZV installed if you want, but most folks treat it as a temporary accessory. One of the big advantages is how quickly it clamps on and off, letting you keep your bucket clear when you don’t need a hitch. If you’re constantly moving trailers, leaving it installed can save time - just keep an eye on clamp tightness and make sure it’s still seated correctly from time to time. Do you see yourself using it daily, or just...

  • Can etrailer Clamp On Trailer Hitch For Tractor Bucket Be Used With My Old Ball Mount From My Truck?
Hey Derek. Yes - as long as your ball mount has a 2 inch shank, it’ll slide right into the etrailer clamp-on bucket hitch receiver # e75ZV. That’s one of the nice things about it using a standard receiver size instead of proprietary hardware. You don’t need a special ball mount just for this. If you’ve got multiple trailers with different coupler sizes, that’s where something like the adjustable etrailer ball mount # e66PR can simplify things. What ball sizes are you currently swapping...
