Question:
Primarily for my peace of mind. When I attach my awning arms, what am I screwing them into? It seems I may be hitting a header rail in the top, but middle and bottom seems to be just siding? Just curious if this is standard? In all the instructions and videos, the backing that I am screwing Into is never mentioned. Thank you. btw, I have purchased Solera 12v smart arms with a 20ft awning.

The four bolts placed in the top of the awning arms like the # LC405523 typically hit a brace while the rest just connect with the backerboard for the wall. I do recommend using some butyl tape # AL28FJ to help prevent any leaks through your mounting screws and it will also help hold it to the wall while you bolt the arm in place.
