Question:
Hello, I have a problem when pulling my PWC from my local boat ramp during low tide. I cannot float the PWC onto the bunks. I have to pull the PWC up onto the bunks, and then have to winch it up. It is difficult to winch it up because of the angle, but I do get it onto the bunks. This causes the hull of the PWC to get scratched from the ends of the wooden, carpeted covered bunks. Will the use of the DL21741 help ease the winching and hull scratches? Thanks

Yes, using a set of roller bunk like the Dutton-Lainson # DL21741 will help loading your PWC on your trailer. This particular bunk system can be mounted directly to your current bunks if they are in good condition. However, it is recommended to remove your existing carpeting on your bunks before installing these rolling bunks.
If you would like you can also remove the bunks entirely and use the Dutton-Lainson Roller Bunk Mounting bracket to mount these bunks to the cross-member on your PWC trailer. I recommend using at least 3 brackets per roller bunk, please note these brackets are sold individually.
If by chance your bunks are dimensional lumber of that is 2 inches on one edge (like a 2 by 4 or 2 by 6), and are situated so that your PWC is resting on the 2 inch edge of the bunks you may want to consider the Dutton-Lainson # DL21755. These would be attached directly to your wooden bunks on the 2 inch edge.
Please note that the total weight capacity for both sets of the roller bunks is 3,000 pounds total.
With these new roller bunks installed on your trailer, your PWC will ride a little differently when hauling to and from the ramp. This is especially true during acceleration and braking. Due to the reduced friction that is provided by the roller bunks, your PWC may shift a little more in transport. Therefore, please make sure that you have the properly rated tie down straps, that your PWC is secure before leaving the ramp, and be cautious when winching your PWC up on your trailer the first time.
I have included links to the parts referenced above and short demonstration video for your reference.
