Updated 08/06/2022 | Published 08/05/2022

Question:

I have a trailer with dry hitch weight of 1380 pounds. Should I get the 1500 pound spring bars or go up to the 2000 pound spring bars to accommodate extra weight from gear, propane and batteries that is all close to the tongue?

You will most likely need to go with the 2,000LB Replacement Spring Bars # BXW4014 since your trailer has a dry hitch weight of 1,380lbs. These bars are rated for tongue weights of 1,500-2,000lbs which will be the range you are in when adding propane and batteries to the front of the trailer. A Tongue Weight Scale # e99044 is good to keep on hand to verify the tongue weight when packing your camper to ensure you do not exceed the weight requirements of the bars.

We do have the whole Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW2000 available if you need everything.

The 1,500LB Spring Bars # BXW4008 can be used with this hitch as well but they will not be rated for enough when you load up the camper. These bars should be used with tongue weights of 1,000-1,500lbs.
