Video Transcript for Blue Ox Weight Distribution BXW4014 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the replacement spring bars for the Blue Ox Sway Pro Weight Distribution Systems. This kit includes everything you need to replace your Sway Pro spring bars. These bars will flex which is going to offer a controlled even ride. These bars have a ton weight rating 1,500 pounds to 2,000 pounds. You can use these as a direct replacement for your system. Because these bars are interchangeable with other Blue Ox Spring Bars, you can also use them to change the ton weight capacity of your weight distribution system. The kit comes with two bars, lift chains and the necessary hardware.

They're made from a steel construction and feature a pattern 00:00:36 coated finish to resist rust and corrosion. This end right here goes into the weight distribution head, has the slot right here, so that way it engages and locks into place. These bars are made in the USA. That's going to do it for today's look at the replacement spring bars for the Blue Ox Sway Pro Weight Distribution Systems.

In combination with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Hitch, these bars have done an excellent job leveling and controlling sway on our OutDoors RV 24KTS. Our worst case scenario for towing is with two golf cart batteries, plus two 30 lb propane tanks on the tongue, our front storage area loaded with gear, and without water in the tanks (80 gallons of water storage aft of the axles). Measured tongue weight is 1450 lbs in that condition. While not common, we do occasionally tow without water. Going to the heavier spring bars gives us the security of knowing we won't exceed the 1500 lb bars that came with the original setup. So far we've logged over 6000 miles on the unit from AZ to MT in the southwest. The hitch has done great even in the high cross winds of WY and MT. 640194

Purchased new travel trailer and Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution came free with TT. Dealer stated that 1,000 to 1,500 lb. Spring Bars were sufficient for 1,600 lb tongue weight of TT. Called Blue Ox to verify, they told me by no means should I be using 4 dot (1,000-1,500) Spring Bars. So , I searched on line for 5 dot (1,500 - 2,000) Spring Bars and found best price for them on etrailer.com! Arrived as decribed. 435410

  • How to Determine the Correct Replacement Springs Bars for a Blue Ox Weight Distribution System
  • The Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System part # BXW4008 are best suited for a towing setup with a total tongue weight (TTW) between 1,000 and 1,500 lbs. The TTW is calculated by adding the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer by an weight stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. As long as these two things do not exceed 1,500 lbs then the above spring bars will work well for you. However, if the TTW of your towing setup exceeds 1,500...

  • How To Determine Blue Ox Spring Bar Weight Capacity
  • Blue Ox has an easy system for determining the weight capacity of your spring bars, whereas other companies may use measurements or printed capacity to assist. With Blue Ox, there is a 5 dimple system: No dimples means it is rated for up to 350 lbs total tongue weight. One dimple means it is rated for up to 550 lbs. Two dimples indicates up to 750 lbs. Three dimples indicates up to 1,000 lbs. Four dimples indicates up to 1,500 lbs tongue weight. Five dimples indicates up to 2,000 lbs...

  • Best Weight Distribution System for Towing a 28 ATC Aluminum Trailer with a 2017 Ford F-350
  • You do have a very interesting situation. When it comes to aluminum trailers we always defer to the manufacturer whether it is just a utility trailer or an RV trailer like your toy hauler. Aluminum frames can't always withstand the pressure of a weight distribution (WD) system but if the manufacturer has tested and approved a WD system then you are good to go. I was able to get a hold of someone from the warranty department at ATC and they said that using a WD system with their trailers...

  • Weight Distribution System Needed to Tow a 2016 Sunset Trail 32RI with a 2016 Ford F-150
  • From what I could find online it looks like your 2016 Crossroads Sunset Trail 32Rl has a GVWR of 10,000 lbs. Since the tongue weight (TW) of your loaded trailer should be 10-15% (1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs for your 10,000 lb trailer) and you also need to add the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2016 Ford F-150 for your weight distribution (WD) system, it sounds like you need a bigger WD system. A great WD system for your application is the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW1500. This has...

  • Clamp-On Weight Distribution System Needed for a Variety of Trailer Sizes
  • We do have a weight distribution (WD) system that will fit your various trailer size needs, but if your current trailer hitch/ball mount is already hitting the ground during some of the driveways you have to turn in to I'm not sure if adding a WD system to the mix is a good idea. The shank and head unit will hit the ground and if your driveways are steep enough I doubt the bars are meant to flex that much. If you still need the WD system then the Blue Ox SwayPro systems have clamp-on...

  • Troubleshooting 2013 Ford F-250 Sagging When Using Weight Distribution with Motorcycle in Bed
  • Thank you for all of the info. Even though you aren't sure how much tongue weight (TW) you have when your trailer is loaded I can already tell that with an 800 lb Harley loaded in the bed of your 2013 Ford F-250 you have a weight distribution (WD) system that isn't rated high enough. This is because in regards to a WD system TW includes both the loaded TW of the trailer as well as any weight that sits behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Since a properly loaded trailer has a TW...

  • Correct Blue Ox Sway Pro Weight Distribution System
  • When connecting a weight distribution system you're not always going to be able to get completely back to unloaded stock height. The goal is to try and get as close as you can but it's not always realistic and your numbers aren't too far off so that's not the part I would focus on. Instead I would pay closer attention to making sure the bars you're using are rated for the tongue weight and I think this might be where your issue is. When you weigh your trailer with the ATVs loaded the...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for Towing Car Hauler with Alternating Loads
  • Using the same weight distribution system with such a drastic difference in the amount of weight you're towing can be an issue. If your load is too heavy for the system then it won't be able to do its job, go too light and it will make your trailer ride rough. The Reese Steadi-Flex you mentioned, part # RP66560, is certainly too heavy when your trailer is on the light side and may not even be enough when fully loaded. Instead I recommend using a system that you can convert based on your...

  • Are Long or Short Torsion Arms Better for a Weight Distribution System
  • The reason long bars on weight distribution (WD) systems, like the Strait-Line # RP66074, are so popular is because that means the clamps for the trailer frame will sit about 30" away from the coupler. Typically this avoids items that sit on the tongue, like propane tanks. Short arms are a great substitute for when things like propane tanks get in the way. There really is no advantage or disadvantage of using long or short arms other than the location of other things on the tongue of...

  • Blue Ox Weight Distribution System for 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Towing 10,000 Pound Trailer
  • To choose the correct weight distribution system you need to know the tongue weight of the loaded and ready to tow trailer, plus the amount of weight that will be loaded in the bed of your 2016 GMC 2500 behind the rear axle. A trailer's tongue weight is usually about 10 to 15 percent of its GTW, so you're likely looking at 1,000 to 1,500 pounds. The best way to determine your tongue weight is to weigh it using a scale like # 5780. Once you have this number add in the weight stored...

To change the weight rating of the system, you'd simply swap out the spring bars. I've confirmed this with Blue Ox for you.
