Question:
I bought the first controller and had issues while trying to connect the controller. Many forums mentioned not pairing directly with the phones Bluetooth. Connect with app only however the app would scan and not see the device. I have an android phone and a Toyota Tundra. I leave my phones GPS off since its a big battery drain. After plugging in the Echo I saw the flashing blue light on the device. Scanned for it with the app to no avail. Returned the 1st Echo device back for another device but had the same no pairing result. Nothing in the instructions I noted mentioned THE GPS HAS TO BE ON IN CONJUNCTION WITH BLUETOOTH FOR THE APP TO SEE THE ECHO BRAKE CONTROLLER otherwise it doesnt pair. Once I turned the GPS on the app saw the brake controller and the device was paired. I hadnt seen this information anywhere else. Thought some folks might wanna know.

Thank you for the insight! We haven't heard this yet either for the Curt Echo # C51180 to pair with a phone but I'm not at all shocked as it's had some issues pairing under various circumstances in the past.
Once you get it paired and all of your settings in place I recommend using the Manual Override Button # C83HR so you won't be relying on your phone to apply the manual brakes. This saves your phone battery and gives you peace of mind that the brakes will apply when you hit the button.
