Hi looking for brake controller and pigtail needed under dash of a 2024 Tesla model Y. Much confusion on web as the 12v charging pin in 7 pin wire is not activated. Thanks Anthony

Hey Anthony,
It looks like there's a proprietary pigtail wire harness (p1072586) to connect to the factory plug behind the trim on the driver's side and the brake controller's wire harness. From what I can find some people say that it's included and should be found in the glove box and others state that Tesla's completely against giving them out to Model Y owners. I would check to see if you have it and if not reach out to Tesla. There's a couple of videos out there where people have taken the trim out and shown where the connector is to plug into and splicing the harnesses together.
Brake controller wire harnesses are one of the only kind that actually have an industry standard that everyone follows so you'd be able to splice that harness directly to a harness like the Tekonsha # 7894 color for color using some butt connectors # DW05714 (2 needed) and # 224775 (2 needed).
I can't really find any credible info on activating the 12v pin on the 7-way so I would also reach out to Tesla for this as well to ensure that you're doing everything correctly. They'll most likely require you to bring in your Model Y to their shop to activate the pin.

Hi. I talked with Tesla and did some research. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 is the controller I plan to purchase from you unless you have better recommendation for infrequent local towing. The under dash harness I needed from Tesla was ASY,HARN,TRAILER 1.00 BRAKE ECU ADAPTER(1072586-00-A) only $4.75 and in stock at local service center. Thanks Ant
