Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2004 Honda Odyssey With 7-Bike Bike Rack
Question:
I need a hitch for our 2004 Honda Odyssey that will work with https://www.velocirax.com/product-page/velocirax-7 this bike rack. It needs a 2 class III 500lb TW hitch. I think e98862 is the hitch I need, but it is only a 350lb TW unless using weight distribution towing. If you could point me in the right direction of which hitch I need to purchase and how exactly to install it with the weigh distribution that would be FANTASTIC! Thank you for your help!

For a hitch with a high enough tongue weight capacity you will need the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75270. Although the # e98862 does have a max tongue weight of 500 lbs with weight distribution, this would require a weight distribution hitch and a trailer to install it on.
The # 75270 has a maximum tongue weight of 675 lbs with or without weight distribution so it will be able to handle the bike rack and bikes without an issue. However, I recommend checking your owner's manual to make sure you don't exceed the capacity of your vehicle.
With all of that tongue weight you may also want to consider some rear suspension enhancement. The Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL60740 have a load-leveling capacity of 1,000 lbs and will help provide extra support and keep you level. These will also improve steering and braking performance and help absorb road shock. Keep in mind, they will not increase your vehicle's weight-carrying capacity.
