Specs:
The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Matte black, powder coated steel is durable and corrosion resistant and creates a rugged look. This hitch was super easy to install, the videos online were extremely helpful when installing. Make sure that the weld nut threads are clean of rust and debris, as the two on the passenger side of mine were rusted and needed a lot of cleaning. Also putting a bolt in and threading in and out and cleaning with WD 40 helped for a much easier install. The hitch fits up nicely against the bottom of the bumper, there is no reason not to be pleased with this hitch. Great product!
Great hitch! It was a little challenging to install myself (but feasible). It’s very solid and has great ground clearance on my 2016 Honda Odyssey. I use it to carry 1-2 bikes with a Kuat bike rack. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that one of the stickers is peeling off after a year.
My order was delivered without delay, as per the delivery date. Installation instructions where easy to follow while the item fits perfectly. Thanks a lot guys...
I have a 2009 odyssey. The holes for the threaded bolts required a lot of cleaning. It took a lot of effort to screw bolts in but I got them in. Initially, I tried attaching the driver side of the hitch first but couldn’t get the passenger side bolts in. The holes on the hitch were a little close for the bolts to seat. An additional 1/8 “ would have made the job easier. I reversed the process and attached the two passenger side bolts first,( above exhaust pipe) Then I was able to get the bolts attached on drivers side. Good support from etrailer
This was a easy install and I’ve towed motorcycles at least 10-15 with a 5x8 trailer that is reinforced and much heavier than your average 5x8 trailer also moved a couple people and made many trips to Home Depot as well
Just finished installing the hitch receiver on my 2016 Odyssey. It arrived in great time, and was surprisingly well packaged. The videos were immensely helpful. I did not remove the exhaust from the hangers, which probably would have helped but I managed with some creative wrench angles. My only complaint was that out of the box the holes were just shy of aligned. It took me a good 30-40 minutes more than it should have as I wrestled with the thing, trying to find enough play from side to side that would allow proper threading. I did the whole install on the driveway, no ramps, jacks, or blocks. So my shoulders got a work out... Eventually I grabbed a screwdriver, shoved it through an as-yet unused bolt hole, and leveraged the whole thing outward a bit. That gave me just enough room to get the bolts in place, working from one side to the other. The included wire bolt fishing doodad was fantastic, and got everything aligned quite well. The whole process went fairly well for this novice, and looking at other reviews it seems that the slight misalignment is not uncommon. But the quality of the installation guidance more than made up for the challenge of wrestling it into place.
My hitch was easy to install on my Honda Odyssey due to the video instruction from trailer. The matte black looks great. Took me less than 1 hour. The majority of use will be carrying bikes with an occasional trailer.
I've installed 4 hitches on different vehicles and this by date was the best fit and easiest install ever. After reading the instructions took no more than 20 mins and my van now has a hitch. Not to mention it got to me in 3 days after purchasing. Couldn't be more pleased
Great, straight forward installation. I debated between the 'hidden' version and the bar version. As far as I can tell from pictures, the OEM hitch is hidden in the center area, but the sides stick down similar to this style, so it's doesn't look that clean. There is a Draw Tite 76025 version that looks to be hidden on the sides as well which gives the cleanest look, but a lot more effort to remove the bumper, etc. This one isn't very noticeable, and hey, it's a mini-van - convenience is more important than looks. I don't believe the Draw Tite gets the hitch up any higher, looking at all the other videos, pictures, etc. So I opted for the etrailer version instead of the Curt, as the price was a bit better. I debated whether I should put the rear end up on floor jacks to give me a bit more room. Feeling lazy, I didn't, and probably should have just to give me a bit more working room. Couple notes that might help - Removing the drivers side underbody panel (that you can discard when finished or reinstall), there's a step where you unscrew a Phillips screw that is tucked in the wheel well. My minivan has the black plastic mudflaps, and even though there is a hole through them to access that screw, I removed the mudflaps - made it way easier to get to (and re-install - I chose to trim the plastic fitting and re-install). Also, on the passenger side, you can work around the exhaust pipe, but it's kind of in the way - I should have pulled it off the hangers (see the Curt hitch video) - would have saved a few curse words and socket extensions, etc. Don't forget the bristle brush to clean the weld nuts. Also, thread the bolts in once without the hitch in place, to make sure they'll go in smoothly. Overall, a pretty easy project to complete. One other plus - the fish-wire bolt installation is brilliant - it does go in as easy as the video shows, and works great. My only complaint is that I wish I had a hoist... :) Good luck!
The website is great. Descriptions of items and fit to car are great. Videos showing installation are great. The hitch that I received for my 2015 Honda odessey was in good condition but the holes for the hex bolts did not line up with my under carriage. Off by maybe 1/2 inch. Very frustrating at first but I saw in the comments that this issue happens and the etrailer website has an entire page dedicated to addressing the issue. It took a lot of trial and error but I was able to “straighten” the bar by using their stair ledge approach. Put one end under the lip of a brick stair ledge and pushing down on the opposite end to bend the bar enough to get the bolt holes to line up properly.
Very stable and strong. I've not testing any where near the max capacity, but there's no movement in the hitch under load. Looks to be a great product.
Packaging wasn't great including allowing the wire brush that I ordered to be packaged directly against this hitch, and so there were several spots where the paint was worn through to the metal. Didn't want to take the time to return and get a new part, as I was needing it very soon. The fit was challenging, as the holes for the hitch were almost an inch wider than the corresponding holes on my vehicle. Took a couple hours of head scratching and trying different approaches to figure out how to make it all work. Once installed (and black paint purchased and applied to cover up the missing paint), it has worked perfectly for me ever since, and the price was good.
Works perfect. I use it for my 5'x8' utility trailer to pick up 1cu yd of compost.
Only 5 bolts, and it went on a lot easier than I thought it would be, not bad at all. The videos for the Odyssey were helpful and accurate, and the one bolt I had to use the fish wire for went in easy-peasy. We used a motorcycle jack to lift it up, and that worked really well. Very happy with it!
I talked to your group before I bought this hitch, I also watched a video to see what was needed to do if I wanted to do this myself. I am handy , and have tools.... and after watching the video realize it could be done. I am very thankful for the thorough video showing me step by step on everything from start to finish. The only problem that I got stuck with was the passenger side thread bolt receiver was rusty because of no cover and took some time cleaning it with a wire brush and WD 40. I should have bought the brush they showed in the video .... but got through it anyway. Wish Honda would have put plugs to stop the rust on those two holes , they are there for someone to use and there is nothing to protect them. Overall.... I am happy with etrailer, and all the help from the video and customer service
Good rack, great price, poor fit out of the box . Exactly what we need on our minivan; we will use it for a bike rack 99% of the time. Construction looks great, hardware was perfect, shipping container was great. The big issue was fit. When put in place it was obviously short by about 3/8 of an inch, the holes would not line up. Took it off and I noticed the bends in the piece were not completed; they needed to be flatter where it joined against the frame. Given this arrive Friday evening, rather than return it I did the following to flatten it. 1) Take two pipe wrenches and clinch tightly on the flats where it attaches to frame. 2) Lift the hitch up so the wrenches are braced on the ground 3) Using the length of the hitch as a lever, complete the bend on the flat 4) Remove the pipe wrenches and repeat for the other side I was then able to complete installation as per the instructions.
Great product and deserving of 5 stars. A couple of notes on installation. It took me about an hour and half for the entire job including tow hitch and wiring harness. YouTube videos and the instructions make it seem very easy, and it is in fact very straightforward ......until you have issues with your car. For the tow hitch. I had trouble removing the driver side plastic guard and one of the threaded holes on the passenger side had some significant rust that required a tap. The wiring harness installation is really quite difficult with big hands. My 11 year old daughter saved the day both fishing the harness through the trim panel to the rear fuse box and then also reaching into the back rear corner to attach the grounding strap to the grounding bolt. All-in-all, absolutely worth the five star rating. Just be realistic with your time for installation and be prepared for issues with your car including having the right tools for contingencies.
Installed and works just as described; I am very happy with it and it feels of great quality. I installed myself; etrailer provided great customer service when I had a problem with threads on my vehicle (no problem at all with the hitch). I am using the hitch to carry a four-bike rack on my Honda Odyssey and it is working great.
Very good quality hitch. The hardware that came in the 4 bolts doesn’t fit in my Honda Odyssey 2014 the product itself says no drilling and it fits. Unfortunately I have to bring my car to the car shop and re thread to accommodate the hardware that came with it. I end up paying extra for the installation instead of a simple DIY...
Installation was a pain as the metal spacer for the carriage bolt was too large to fit into the access hole and customer service was difficult to get any help out of. I ended up just grinding it down myself. The rest of installation was easy, the video on the website walking through the installation steps was very helpful. Once installed, hitch itself has worked great and is very sturdy.
Fit perfectly and customer service was excellent in following up about questions I had about the order. They were able to provide a solution with no questions asked and would recommend working with them.
I needed a trailer hitch for future towing and bike rack. I tried all my local stores but no luck. I looked online and found etrailer.com. The specs were same as other manuf. and costs were even better priced. Install video was a great help as well. The rack arrived quicker than estimated.
The trailer hitch works well. We have had it for a year and was easy to install and has been durable. Instead of using my truck all the time, using my van to tow things around has been great.
This 2" hitch receiver arrived promptly as promised in excellent condition (only a few minor scratches on the end plates which I attribute to UPS). The installation video was spot on and fitment on my 2016 Honda Odyssey was perfect. However there was an issue with the threads on the more exposed passenger side frame rails. At least one half of the 90 minute installation time was devoted to spraying and wire brushing the threads. It must be noted I live in NY and they are not stingy with the road salt in the winter where every snowfall no matter how much accumulation leaves the roads looking like the Bonneville Salt Flats so the corrosion was not unexpected. In retrospect my time would have been better spent driving to the hardware store and buying a tap. The Eclipse tilting 4 bike rack I purchased from etrailer has perfect clearance so I'm 100% satisfied.
