Question:
Is there a minimum weight for this hitch? Like if I two my boat it would be great. But what if I need to run to the lumber store for some 8 ft boards with my utility trailer?

The torsion action on the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-1024 is designed for trailers with a tongue weight of 500 lbs - 1,100 lbs so if you were to tow a lighter trailer using this ball mount then the torsion part would simply not operate and you would essentially be using a fixed ball mount.
So really the only bad thing about this is using a hefty ball mount for a lightweight trailer but if you plan on just leaving this on your truck then you don't really have anything to worry about.
I do recommend protecting your investment with some locking hitch pins. You can use the kit # 34061572-D for 2 locks or the kit # 34061650-D for 3 locks if you want the ability to lock all 3 pins used for your Gen-Y Hitch.
