This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 4 stacked 2" receivers that can accept almost any hitch-mounted accessory. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

torsion w/cutaway

Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerks to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.

Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

stacked receivers

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 4 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

With the 4 stacked receivers, not only do you have the ability to adjust the height of the included ball mount, but you also have the ability to add various other hitch-mounted accessories. Insert a bike rack or cargo carrier. Mount a spare tire carrier. Use a tow bar to flat tow your vehicle. Or just add a fun hitch cover.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (1,100 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 500 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Insert this shock-absorbing, adjustable mount into your hitch to get 4 stacked 2" receivers. Flexing rubber cords limit shock. Tongue weight scale shows if the load needs to be adjusted. 2" Ball, 2-5/16" ball, and pintle hook included.

This hitch is amazing!!! Be prepared though it is very heavy! I love how easy it is to adjust to different heights and ball sizes with the 2 common sizes provided. The scale on the back can be helpful to let you know if you have the proper trailer weight. The more you use it the more you will like it!

Love the height adjustment for all 3 of my trailers suuper solid, I get compliments all the time when people see it "wow that things stout!" Keeps the trailer tongue from excessive bobbing, the pins it came with are a huge improvement from the standard Bobby pin style I was used to. Over all I do not regret a dollar spent and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an initial purchase or upgrade their tow life

Having the built in tongue weight indicator is a true benefit. The torsion movement of the receiver absorbs harsh hi-way road conditions.
I had no problems pulling 10,000 plus miles, with trailers weighting #8,000 to #1000. Would highly recommend this receiver.

Best hitch iv come across makes a world of a difference

I bought the hitch because I frequently tow my 24 foot toyhauler down some pretty rough stretches of interstate highway. Its the kind of highway that when a trailer is attached to your truck, it drives the tow vehicle up and down like a fast yo-yo. I think the hitch helps a little but not nearly as much as I had hoped.

Bought this hitch a year ago for my new car hauler trailer. I used a standard hard hitch for a few months before deciding to bite the bullet and purchase this hitch. This completely eliminated the hard bumping the trailer would give the truck on some of the rough roads in Missouri

Came quick. Haven't used it yet but will do asap!

I have friends with these so I got one. Very happy. Works great with a boat or my car hauler.

Holy heavyweight...this hitch is stout. I think it will serve me well for years on all applications that I use.

Shipping was fast. Ordered on a Friday and was here Wednesday I paid for the 4 day as I was moving soon and wanted to be sure it would arrive.

Great product. Just the ticket for getting my trailer level and getting rid of all that bumping and rattling. Built to last too.

Very, very quality hitch. It does the job excellently. It is heavy though so consider a hitch handling device. -Joe

Just got this, looks are amazing. Fit and finish top of the mark. I wish it would fit on my work truck. I will modify my bumper, so it will work.

Being new to hauling a trailer I was very impressed with the education provided by etrailer. Thank you for the time you spent.

This thing is heavy duty. Should do exactly what I wanted

I just received the hitch and installed it but have not had a chance to pull with it. It appears to be very well made and is a heavy hitch at 118lbs. I have a 45ft coach and pull a 16k stacker trailer so will see how it does. Will update in a couple of weeks.

I pull a 22k stacker trailer with about 3000lb of tongue weight with a class A pusher with a custom receiver hitch that I had built for it. Decided to try the gen y after talking with someone else who swore by it. After driving cross country I can say it improved the ride quality dramatically. Worth every penny

THis is our second Boss hitch they are wonderful and function just as designed to smooth out the impacts between the truck and rig. Had a slight issue with the first delivery but E-Trailer replaced it no questions asked and two days later the new one showed up and the UPS driver took away the first. Great customer service which is very rare these dasys.

After using this for 100 miles, I ordered another one for my other truck. Heavy and well built, you might not want to take it on and off frequently. Definitely makes towing more comfortable, not in the cab but for the trailer and its' cargo, too. I highly recommend this for anyone pulling a trailer.

  • How Much Weight is Needed for Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount Shock Absorption to Function
The Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-1024 requires a minimum of 500 lbs of tongue weight for the built-in shock absorption to function. This ball mount is intended for tongue weights that are 500-1,100 lbs. So you are correct, without enough weight the system will not function as intended. The Gen-Y has a built in scale to help you balance your trailer, which will also indicate if the weight is too little. If you tow trailers that have a tongue weight in this range...

  • Is There a Tongue Weight Range for Gen-Y Torsion Adjustable Ball Mounts
There are ideal tongue weight ranges for the Gen-Y Torsion ball mounts like the part # 325-GH-1224. If you tow a trailer with too low of a tongue weight the torsion spring won't flex as much so the ride quality wouldn't be as ideal. The part # 325-GH-1224 is for tongue weights higher than 1,000 lbs but less than 1,700 whereas the part # 325-GH-1024 (same in every other way) is for tongue weights between 500 and 1,100 lbs. Sounds like your tongue weight is 1,200 lbs which for that you'd...
