I red that the stealth hitch was recommended for the 2016 BMW X5 40e hybrid. Is this still recommended before I purchase SH85VR

We do have a trailer hitch receiver fit for your 2016 BMW X5 40e hybrid, but I checked with Stealth Hitches directly, and they do not have a fit for your specific year, make and model. What you can use instead is a hitch from EcoHitch, that does fit your '15 X5 40e, and also has a removable receiver just like the Stealth Hitches option.
There are two different EcoHitch options, with the right one depending on if you have backup sensors or not on your '16 X5:
- WITH Back-Up Sensors: EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH44FR
- WITHOUT Back-Up Sensors: EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7265
