Hitch for BMW X5 50i That Doesn't Require Trimming Fascia

Updated 12/30/2024 | Published 12/29/2024

Question:

BMW X5 50i anno 2016, don’t know if it’s an “M” package or not……it’s got FAT wheels and M style skirts. I’m looking for a tow set up that requires NO cutting of the rear bumper cover. I’m clueless on BMWs, but this seems like a question you guys could answer on any given Monday. Looking forward to your answer, if you build me a “cart” with required parts I could just click, and avoid my kids help altogether. We live in the greatest country ever, I hope you can appreciate it with us all! Thanks

Hi Hans; I can't make a cart but I can link all of the parts you need on this answer page. For a hitch that won't require any trimming I recommend the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH44FR. This fits with or without the M package so you don't have to worry about the specifics of your model. It has a bolt-on installation and a hidden design with a removable receiver.

For wiring, you can use the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter # C59236. This splices into your vehicle wiring and will give you a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights. If you would rather avoid splicing, you can use the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT instead. This has sensors that clamp onto your vehicle wiring but it also carries an additional cost. To complete your towing setup we have the etrailer Ball Mount # e67DR.
