Correct Pressure for Hydrastar EOH Actuator on 2013 Big Tex Tandem Axle Trailer With Disc Brakes
Updated 06/08/2022 | Published 06/02/2022 >
Question:
I believe my brake actuator pump has went out and I’m getting different resolution about the pump size I need to replace it. One told me I need 1000psi and another told me I need 1600psi. It’s electric over hydraulic. What do I need? It’s a 2013 big Tex dual tandems 11k per axle flatbed trailer.

Expert Reply:
For a replacement you want an actuator with an output pressure of 1,600 psi like the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # HBA16. You need the higher pressure since you have disc brakes on your 2013 Big Tex trailer. 1,000 or 1,200 psi would be correct if you had drum brakes.
