How to Tell if Demco 16K Hydraulic Actuator Can be Used as Replacement for Dexter UFP A-160 Actuator
Published 05/25/2022 >
Question:
Can i use this to replace a Dexter UFP A-160 Hydraulic Tandem Axle Disc Brake Actuator? Pricing the two, yours is significantly more affordable, my concern would be connecting the electrical and hydraulic lines. It is a dual axle magic tilt trailer, OEM recommends replacing like for like with the Dexter. Thanks for any info you can share.

The Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w Drop and Electric Lockout # DM8164311 is rated for disc brakes and it has the electric lockout so as far as compatibility goes those parts will match up. What you need to check on is the mounting bolt hole pattern. I've attached a photo showing the pattern for the Demco actuator for you to check out and compare with what you have. If the bolt holes match, great! If they don't you can either go with the actuator your trailer manufacturer recommends or you can drill new holes and install this one if that's something you feel comfortable doing. Just be sure you know if doing that will void the warranty of the trailer prior to drilling so you might need to reach out to the manufacturer on this one.
