Backing down a ramp or up a driveway is a lot simpler with the built-in electric reverse lockout. When your reverse lights come on, the solenoid automatically stops hydraulic pressure from reaching your trailer’s disc brakes, so there’s no need to get out or use a manual pin. It ties right into the reverse circuit on your 5-pin, 6-pin, or 7-pole wiring. With this setup, you can focus on steering instead of fighting locked-up brakes.
The EZ-Latch design takes the guesswork out of connecting your trailer. Just lower the coupler onto the ball—when it’s seated, the latch snaps shut with a clean metallic clink. There’s no need to wrestle the handle or double-check if it locked. Its low-profile shape also sheds impact from debris and tailgates, and the nylon-composite latch handle is tough enough to handle real use. A locking pin can be added through the side hole when you want extra theft protection.
Inside the actuator, a glass-reinforced nylon master cylinder and automotive-style diaphragm cap keep the brake fluid clean and sealed. The large reservoir holds more fluid for consistent braking over long hauls without constant topping off. The master cylinder pushes fluid evenly through your lines for steady braking performance when slowing or stopping a loaded trailer.
This Demco DA16 actuator is rated for 16,000 lbs gross towing weight and 1,600 lbs maximum tongue weight. The heavy-duty steel housing is coated with premium zinc plating that withstands corrosion five times longer than standard finishes—500 hours of salt spray protection means it stands up well to wet or salty conditions. A built-in breakaway cable with snap hook adds an extra layer of security if your trailer ever disconnects.
The inner slide runs on an acetal copolymer liner that’s self-lubricating for smooth travel every time you brake or pull away. It won’t bind or wear unevenly over time, keeping your stops predictable trip after trip. The built-in 4" drop helps line up your trailer height for level towing on a straight 3" wide tongue using five Grade-5 bolts (not included) for full strength and stability.

WOrks great, minor hole drill from factory but was basicly a perfect fit.
The actuator works fine but the electric lockout stopped working on the third day of use
Bolt it right on no issues.

- Unit as advertised, New and in good condition. Image of Actuator pictured on the web site had a "Stamped" coupler head but the one I received was the newer cast coupler head. This confused me for a bit but I found out from Demco that the cast coupler is the new style.
- Original identified delivery was to be Saturday, 6 SEP which was missed. Actual delivery was Tuesday, 9 Sep.
