Question:
I bought a Road master eagle tow bar used, it has everything except the two brackets that mount on the jeep frame. I have a 2001 jeep Cherokee sport and want to know if you sell just the 2 bracket parts that mount on the frame without the slide in part because I already have them with the tow bar and quick disconnect. To be clear I need only the frame bolts and the jeep frame halves of the 1418-1 brackets.

Helpful Expert Reply:
The frame mount part only of base plates # 1418-1 is not available. The issue is that the base plate removable arms and the frame mount parts are made together and each set individually. What this means is that the arms from one kit may not properly fit into the frame brackets of another kit of the same part number. This makes is uncertain if replacement parts will be compatible so they do not offer the parts individually.
You have a tow bar, quick disconnects, and now you know what you need as far as base plates. There are a few other items required to flat tow a vehicle. If you do not already have them, you will need safety cables, # RM-643. You will also need a lighting solution. I recommend a simple kit # RM-2120 that will fit the gap between the rear hatch and vehicle body. With this kit you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring.
And finally, most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 because after installation you will not have to reset it up again.
Be sure to consult your vehicle owners manual to make sure it can be flat towed and for any special procedures and requirements. I have included two helpful links on flat towing for you.
