Is a Capture Plate Needed for Demco Hijacker 5th Wheel Hitch with MORryde Pin Boxes

Question:

I have a Demco auto slide bought through etrailer and will be purchasing a new trailer which has the Morryde rubber pin box. Currently my Fuzion 369 has a Rota-Flex pin box and only utilizes the 2 capture brackets incorporated into the hitch itself - no capture plate. Which seems to work fine. I realize the Morryde pinbox is designed for fore/aft movement, along with side to side. Is that the reason why I NEED a capture plate? and will I also need to use the capture brackets? My assumption is NO, as that will limit the side-to-side movement. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Yes, you will need to use a new capture plate for the MORryde Pin Boxes with the Demco Hijacker 5th Wheel Hitch, the Demco Hijacker Autoslide Locking Plate for MOR/ryde Pin Boxes part # DM6025. The design of the skid plate on the pin box does not work with the hitch head capture plates which is why you need the above to prevent from rotating.
