Hello! I’m interested in the Thule bike rack for the rear door of the ram promaster but I have a spare tire mounted on the drivers side door that I’m unsure would allow the use of the bike rack. Potentially only in the highest position? I have a cannondale road bike

We definitely have a solution for transporting bikes on your Ram Promaster. However, I sent a photo of your setup to my tech at Thule, and he confirmed that your spare tire sits too high in order for the Thule Elite Van XT # TH302043 to work with your bikes on your van even in the highest position available on the rack.

Although, from the looks of your picture, it looks like you have the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches # Y62VR installed on your hitch. If this is the case, the best option is to add the TopShelf for Yakima EXO SwingBase # Y94VR along with the Yakima DoubleUp 2 Bike Rack for Modular EXO System # Y24VR.

It is important to note that the length from the shank pinhole on the swing base to the closest part of the rack is only 4-1/2 inches, you most likely need the Yakima StraightShot Hitch Extension - 2" Hitches - 7-1/4" Long # Y69VR to provide you with extra length on the shank to clear your spare tire. I recommend measuring the distance from the center of your hitch pinhole to the outside face of your rear bumper to make sure you need to use the StraightShot.
