I have a 2018 gmc 4x4 crew cab. Wanting baseplates for this vehicle. I have a Demco tow bar. What is difference between e98958 baseplate and DM9519330 baseplate? Also why do you have to disconnect vehicle battery during towing?

There are no differences between the etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit part # e98958 and Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit part # DM9519330, just go with whichever is more cost effective at the time. They will both work great with a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. They can also both be used with many different tow bars including any from Demco without an adapter.
In regards to disconnecting the battery, this is instructed by the manufacturer, usually for battery drain but I don't have specifics for this unfortunately. That said, we do offer a solution for easy disconnecting and reconnecting using the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect part # RM-766.
