Can You Use Trailer Fenders for Flatbed on a Vehicle
Updated 04/04/2022 | Published 04/03/2022 >
Question:
Howdy folks, I’m looking at fenders for my pickup truck, which happens to be a 2008 Ford Ranger without a stock bed. Building a flatbed. I know you guys are “etrailer,” and I will be fendering my trailers down the line, but tow vehicle is first priority. Can you advise me on how to go about sizing fenders for such a use? Single axle not dually, and I assume the fenders should have a fixed mount to the frame or bed instead of moving with the axle. I also imagine that I will have to fabricate mounts, finish the pieces, etc. Just wondering about sizing, obviously movement and debris need to be allowed for, but I also don’t want more clearance than necessary. Thanks a lot for your guidance! Sincerely,

It's actually quite common to use trailer fenders on a vehicle when fabricating as no one really has the means to stamp new metal into a custom shape for this. The best way to size a fender is by wheel diameter but this is just general so if you plan to be using larger than normal tires then you'll need to consider this when selecting said fender. You'll also likely need to use some options that are on the wider size. The mounts you'll need to figure out yourself but most fab workers will have no problems with this. The Single Axle Trailer Fender for Enclosed Trailers part # HP46VR would be a good starting point but I have attached our full list below.
