Question:

Hi, If I would get the Replacement M12 Bolt, Washer, and Lock Washer for Thule Vertex Bike Rack 9029, do I also need a nut to go with the set up? What would the part number be for such nut? How do I install once I have all the parts? Obviously the bolt screws in through the hitch receiver. Does the washer go on the side toward the bolt head and the lock washer and potentially the nut go on the other end in that order? Thanks

The only replacement parts you need to secure your Thule Vertex 9029 to your hitch are # 908-1240-54 for the M12 Bolt, # 951-1224-54 for the Washer, and # 956122159 for the Lock Washer. There is no replacement nut available, and no need for one. These will screw into the shank/stinger on the bike rack when you install it. You will use the washer, then the lock washer, followed by the bolt. All of these will be on the outside of the receiver tube.

The Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device # THSTL2, which will also work as a replacement, runs through the entire length of the receiver tube since you need to access both ends of the bolt to use a lock.

I have attached a picture from the instructions showing how these are installed for both a 2" and 1-1/4" hitch.
