Solid and simple, the Thule Apex XT handles up to 37.5 lbs per bike, giving you dependable strength for two rides without the need for extra tools. The steel frame and 13-1/2" dual arms keep your setup balanced, while the black powder-coated finish resists rust and wear. The HideAway anti-sway cradles hold bikes steady by the top tube and seat post, cutting down on sway and rubbing so paint and cables stay protected instead of rattling against each other on the road.
You don’t have to wrestle with a full rack just to reach your gear. A HitchSwitch lever at the base of the mast lets the Apex XT tilt away when bikes are off, opening your cargo area for whatever’s packed behind it. When you’re done, lift it back until it clicks into place—quick, solid, and ready to roll again.
When you’re not hauling bikes, space matters. Pull the top HitchSwitch lever and the arms fold down, trimming the rack’s length from 29-1/2" to just 16". The rubber cradles even fold up out of the way, so you can keep the rack installed without blocking space in a garage or tight parking spot.
The Apex XT’s SnugTite system makes mounting easy—just insert the shank into your hitch and turn the integrated knob until snug. It deploys an internal wedge that locks the rack tight and helps eliminate movement and noise. No tools needed, no wobble while driving. A removable sleeve adapts the rack for either 1-1/4" or 2" hitches, so you’re covered no matter which size you have.
Security is built in, not tacked on. A locking hand knob keeps the rack attached to your hitch, and an integrated cable lock extends from the arm to loop through your frames. Both locks are keyed alike under the One-Key System, so one key secures everything. When not in use, the cable tucks neatly into the mast for a clean, ready-to-go setup.

Best Bike Rack Ever! This rack is so easy to mount and take off my 4Runner so I can be loaded up in minutes. My bikes ride well on the rack and the lock certainly help for short stops. Great bike rack!

Great. This was one of my better purchases. Its easy to use and better still its easy to take on and off. I remove it during the winter when not in use.
