Still not understanding how the 2019 knows when the motorhome brakes have been applied,

The way the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR works is, by using an in coach RF controller that plugs into the 12V outlet in your motorhome.
The accelerometer or deceleration sensor in the RF controller senses the braking action of the motorhome and sends a signal to the brake system in the towed vehicle when you apply the brakes.
Which then the RF sensor in the motorhome will send a signal to your Patriot, and will apply the brakes in the same proportion of the motorhome.
