What is the Functionality of the Locking Knob on the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202?

Question:

The question was asked if the pin should be able to be removed after the knob is turned and locked. ‘ One expert, said yes. Another said, the pin actually does not lock the hitch, when the tension knob is secured it’s mechanism expand the racks shank To the vehicles. The pin on mine does not lock in, it can be removed. What’s the correct answer?

I can definitely clarify the functionality of the tightening knob on the EasyFold XT # TH903202. The hitch knob on the rack does lock, but there is no "clicking" sound that notifies you that you've tightened the knob to a proper degree. The knob simply tightens and gets more resistance on the threads as the knob turns. However, there is a keyhole on the knob that locks so that it cannot be removed for theft-deterrence purposes.
