Does the thule Motion XT XL require an adaptor to fit to yakima round crossbars?

Nope! In order to use the Thule Motion XT XL Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft - Titan Glossy # TH629807, you do not need to use any adapter in order to clamp the box onto Yakima RoundBars like the 48" # Y00408.

Since you are inquiring about RoundBars, I assume your 2014 Subaru Forester has raised factory rails. If that is the case, you also need the additional components to mount the RoundBars:

- TimberLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y33TR
- RoundBar SL Adapter for Yakima BaseLine, SkyLine, TimberLine, and RidgeLine Towers # Y03536
- Yakima Same-Key Lock Cylinders # Y07204

With this setup, you will be able to mount the RoundBars to your 2014 Subaru Forester and attach the Motion XT XL cargo box. It is important to note that, in order to make sure that your rear hatch can fully open with the hatch installed, that you measure the furthest forward mountable crossbar position of your rails to the line where the roof and hatch meet. If that measurement exceeds 51-1/4 inches long, you are good to go! I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows how you conduct this measurement.
