Do Arms of Thule T2 Pro X 4-Bike Rack Need 2 or 4 Lock Cylinders

Updated 07/25/2026 | Published 03/16/2022

Question:

Hi, I just ordered my car hitch from here. Question on the Thule T2 bike hitch. Each arm has a lock to lock down on each bike. Each arm has a lock cylinder on both sides. Should it be 4 lock cylinders?. Thanks.

Appreciate the purchase of the hitch, and you are correct that you will need four lock cylinders for the arms of the Thule T2 Pro X Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # TH26ZE

So what you will want is the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 4 # TH450400.

Kyle, not your fault as you were just the expert. Thule has quite a racket going making consumers purchase all these locks separately. I don’t think you understood his question. I have the rack for only two bikes… the arms that lock down the front tires have 2 lock holes on each arm. So do users need one lock cylinder for each side?

@TedJ You only need one lock per bike if that makes sense.

Would that be the same part number for a 2 bike. Looking to get 2 more lock cores for my arms.

@Barry the # TH450200 is 2 lock cores if you just need 2 for the arms. If you want them to match existing lock cores that is possible as well, but I will need the number off of your existing lock core to find the right one.
