What are the pros/cons between the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 and Malone Runway 4? It will need to accommodate 2adult+2kid bikes at times, and other times 2+ full suspension mountain bikes.

When it comes to hitch-mounted carriers by Hollywood Racks and Malone that can carry adult bikes, kids bikes, and mountain bikes, one pro of the Hollywood Racks models is the weight capacity. If you are looking at a rack like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches # HR1400Z, the per-bike weight capacity is 50 pounds. This is great for heavier adult bikes (not electric bikes) and full-suspension mountain bikes. Another great advantage is that the Sport Rider SE comes with locking ratcheting hooks (which is absent with the Malone Runway # MAL82VR). The locks help you deter theft of the bikes. In addition, the Sport Rider SE allows you to remove 2 of the bike's positions if you are just wanting to transport 2 bikes.
As far as Malone models like the Malone Runway, one beneficial thing is the shank length. The measurement from the pinhole to the closest part of the rack is 7 inches (compared to the 5-inch length of the Sport Rider SE). This is important for bumper clearance on the end of your vehicle. Many times, racks are not compatible because the hitch receiver might install more inward. However, since the Malone Runway does not come with locks, only has a 33-pound weight capacity, and does not allow you to remove 2 of the bikes positions when not in use, I recommend the Sport Rider SE.
Since you are transporting children's bikes, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Bike Frame Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO for each of your children's bikes. Also, I recommend additional adapter bars if you are transporting women's bikes, step-through bikes, or frames that have alternative frame styles.
