Question:
I have a Harbor Freight 4’x8’ trailer that I am looking to convert to a tear camper. I am wanting to make it off-road ready by adding the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - 4inch Lift Spindle - Off-Road Tires - 3,500 lbs - ASR35HDS02. We are planning on welding the joints of the trailer since it is supposed to fold and weld a long piece down the middle to make it more sturdy. My question is will the Axle-less suspension be compatible with the trailer, what wheels would be best for this setup, and what are additional parts I need to add the suspension to the trailer? Thanks!

Yes, the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - 4" Lift Spindle - Off-Road Tires - 3,500 lbs # ASR35HDS02 can be installed on your Harbor Freight Trailer. The best part about this system is that it fits any frame width and can be bolted or welded on. Keep in mind, although this has a capacity of 3,500 lbs you will be limited by the weakest component of your trailer.
The Timbren Axle-Less suspension system may require additional support on your trailer. If your trailer does not have a crossmember above the spot where you want to install the Timbren system, you may need to reinforce the frame. You can accomplish this three ways. First, you can retrofit the trailer with a crossmember. Second, you can build out the trailer frame. Third, you can use 2-inch by 3-inch steel tubing to connect the 2 Timbren suspensions together using the built-in hole on each unit.
This works with the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb and 6,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 # 8-201-9UC3-EZ. For a wheel and tire you could use the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" White Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - Load Range D # AM32664. These have a weight capacity of 2,540 lbs at 65 psi. Any wheel and tire with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern will work.
I have attached some review and installation videos along with a link to all of our wheels/tires and wheels that come with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern for you to check out.
