Question:
Hi- Have above trailer and need new leaf springs. Originals are hair shy of 22.5inch by 2inch wide slipper style - 2 leaf. After searching around your SP-169275 looks to be best and only bet, Trailer has two identical bolts - one for bushing end and one over which slipper end goes over. I am assuming I can install a double eye spring in its place. Id do new bolts and U bolts as well. Just looking for any guidance/issues you might have. Thanks.

The best option we have for you is the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring part # e84SR with the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit part # APS4. This option will replace the leaf springs and leaf spring hanger brackets which is needed because the new double eye leaf springs are 1-3/4" wide and the old slipper springs are 2" wide not to mention the length discrepancy and leaf spring hanger bracket height. The CE Smith U-Bolt Kit for Mounting part # CE23102 or part # CE23103 can then be used to complete your setup.
Unfortunately, the Harbor Freight Trailers use very uncommon parts so exact replacements are next to impossible to come by. It is possible to add spacers to take up the extra space from the smaller leaf springs but that is not something I can recommend. However, the front and rear hangers on a single axle trailer need to be different heights which wouldn't be possible with your current setup. The reason for this is because you can't just connect both bolts to the spring, you need a shackle strap to allow movement. You can't install a shackle strap with two equal height leaf spring hangers. I hope this makes sense.
