Would These Wheels Work on a Zero Radius Turn Mower?

Updated 05/21/2025 | Published 08/14/2013

Question:

Hi there. I am buying a set of super lug rear tires for my mower. I wanted to buy an extra set of rims for my Toro Timecutter SS4235 zero turn ride-on lawn mower. My current wheels are 4 bolt and 8inch x 7. I have yet to measure the other specs of my wheels against these. I was just wondering if these wheels would be strong enough to put on the back of my mower? I was told that my mower weighs about 500lbs + my weight 170lbs. Also, a popular wheel bolt pattern seems to be 4 x 100mm. Is that the same as a 4 x 4inch bolt pattern...as in are they interchangeable?

The wheel you mentioned has a 900 lb weight rating, so the capacity will not be your problem.

The wheel size is the same, but I am not entirely sure that the bolt pattern will be close enough to match up. A 4 bolt on 100mm bolt pattern would equate to 4 on 3.94 inches, which would be far enough off that it would not fit.

The # AM20021 is for 1/2 inch wheel studs and has a 2.5 inch pilot diameter.

I would recommend confirming the bolt pattern of your hubs, I have linked you to an FAQ article that shows how to do this.

@TonyL this article is actually linked below if you scroll down. You should see a pic of a wheel and it will open the link How To Measure Your Trailer Wheel Bolt Pattern
