What Are The Gauges Of The 30' And 15' Goal Zero Cables

Updated 03/03/2022 | Published 03/02/2022

Question:

Is this the same cable that Goal Zero sells on their site or is this your version of that part? I ask because Goal Zero says their 30 ft cable is only 14 Ga and you state this one is 12 Ga. Goal Zeros 15 foot cable is listed as 12 Ga but the longer 30 ft one says 14 Ga. That makes no sense to me. When I call Goal Zero the best answer I can get is that the engineers say it works betterinch which Im not sure I believe. I suspect the people I get on the phone just dont know. I want a true 12 Ga cable and want to be certain yours is and not simply the same cable Goal Zero is selling. thanks.

The information you received from Goal Zero is correct, though the explanation was lacking. I spoke with someone at Goal Zero and then I took a look at each of the items to verify what I was told. The 30' Cable for Goal Zero Boulder 200, Nomad 200, and Ranger 300 Solar Panels - HPP to HPP, part # GZ42VR, is technically a 14 AWG wire. According to Goal Zero, this wire has two 14 AWG wires in the cable going in each direction. When you compare this wire to the 15' Cable for Goal Zero Boulder 200, Nomad 200, and Ranger 300 Solar Panels - HPP to HPP, part # 287-98064, you immediately see the 30' wire is considerably thicker. The 15' cable is a 12 AWG wire.

I have included a product description link and a video demo link below.
