Question:

I have a 2020 Ram 3500 Dually and am towing a 2020 Beacon 39GBB. I noticed in their literature that I may need a HBA-CAM amplifier . Unit is a Hydrastar Model HBA-16 1600 PSI Can you spec out correct amp if needed.

Assuming you have the factory brake controller on your 2020 Ram 3500 it is likely that you will need the # HBA-CAM for your HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HBA16 to function properly. I reached out to Hydrastar and they are not 100% sure, so they recommend taking your trailer to a vacant parking lot or similar place if possible to test it out.

If you find that the brakes are not working properly or get false error codes and hear clicking noises in the actuator then you need the adapter module. Installation is simple, all you need to do is tap into the white ground wire and blue brake controller wire running to the actuator with the same color wires on the # HBA-CAM.
