The HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness item # HS381-9067 is designed to work with an aftermarket electric over hydraulic brake controller.

The HydraStar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes - OEM item # HS481-8067 will allow you to use a OEM brake controller to operate the trailer brakes.

If your vehicle has an aftermarket brake controller you will want item # HS381-9067. If you have a vehicle that came from the factory with a brake controller you'll need item # HS481-8067. Both of these actuators are designed only for disc brakes.

The vented end plate releases pressure, moisture, and heat in order to protect the internal components.

Jerred, We have a couple of different vehicles we tow the boat with. One is a2005 Ford F350 with a built in electric brake controller and the second is a Mercedes Sprinter with an aftermarket Redarc controller. Which actuator is best suited for both of these units? Thanks in advance. Ken

@Ken Since you're driving a 2005 F-350 with an OEM controller and your Mercedes uses an aftermarket controller, you're going to want the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Adapter Module for Ford and Chevy Brake Controllers item # HBA-CAM and the Hydrastar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness item # HS381-9067. Or item # HBA16 if you just need the actuator and not a complete kit. The Adapter Module for Ford and Chevy Brake Controllers item # HBA-CAM is the part that communicates with the factory controllers. What kind of brakes does your boat trailer have?

@Ken Cool! Definitely on that right track with the Hydrastar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator item # HS381-9067 or item # HBA16. Both are for disc brakes.

What about a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser? The adapter in the 8067 kit only specifies some GM and Ford trucks. The Land Cruiser has E-O-H capability with the built in controller.

@JeremyN The Hydrastar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes item # HS381-8067 is compatible with the Toyota factory brake controller. You will not need the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Adapter Module for Ford and Chevy Brake Controllers item # HBA-CAM.
