Will an Over-Under Conversion Kit Fit a Trailer with a Square Axle

Question:

My camp trailer has square tubed axles. Can the kit you stock be used? From the images of the kit, it appears that the kit is for a round tubed axle.

The over under conversion kits like # K71-385-00 only work on round axles. What you can do depends on why you need to raise the trailer. If you need more clearance under the trailer you can replace the leaf spring hangers with longer ones. You have to increase the height equally for all hangers. For example if you go up 2 inches on the front hanger, all hangers must also go up 2 inches.

Raising the height of the trailer can change the ride quality and will make the center of gravity higher leading to the increased likelihood of sway. I have included a link to the hanger main page for you.

If you want to raise the trailer because the tow vehicle is taller and you cannot tow the trailer level you will just need a ball mount with the proper drop.
