Replacing a Power Control Center in RV Pop Up and What Breakers to Use

Question:

Im want to replace my Rv popup trailers controller. I have a centurion CS 2000 20amp. I have questions on 1. breaker amp increase 30 vs 20 and wiring on trailer, or do you use lower amp breaker ? type of breaker old 20/15 2 pole type BRD implications of that?. 2 on DC side my DC fuses are 20,7.5, 15, 15. Do I simply put those fuses in the new unit or does the fact that they have 40 amp and 20 amp rated slots make a difference. To sum up do I use new controller with higher rated breaker amp with current wiring or do I place lower rated breaker in new controller. also what type of breaker recommended. On dc side do a simply place the current DC fuses in new unit or does the higher amp rating make a difference and that is not doable. Im a novice so need help in understanding.

When installing the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center # PD4135K you will want to use the breakers that are rated to what you currently have. Installing the new control center will not allow you to use higher breakers, you would need to upgrade all of your wiring as well for that. So if you have 20 and 15 amp breakers you would keep using 20 and 15 amp breakers. I have included a picture from the instructions manual that shows the "approved" breakers.

For the DC side, you are correct that you would just use the same fuses. The higher amp ratings just means that you would have the ability to go that high, but your wiring would need to be capable as well. You can put a lower rated breaker/fuse in, you just cannot exceed the rating.
